Six Soup Ingredients You should consume Daily

When we say that food is medicine, it seems like an understatement when you consider how successfully, proper food and nutrition has adequately tackled some near hopeless health challenges.  I recommend that whenever possible,  we should cook our meals ourselves especially during those challenging years of old age when our organs may not be as active in removing toxins.

It is best to cook our meals ourselves whenever possible to enable you avoid as much as possible unwanted toxins into your body. Anytime, we eat food, we are either feeding the bugs or starving them.

Here are five foods you should consume daily to help starve that disease:

1.  Garlic:

Garlic is  quite familiar to us but not with bacteria and microbs.  It is best to use this natural taste enhancer daily in your soups and stews to help bring out the taste of your meals and at the same time reducing inflammations, killing yeast and other unwanted bacteria. Garlic is  a natural ingredient  with no side effect.  Remember to always add your garlic towards the end of your cooking in other to get the benefits.

2.  Cayenne Pepper

Fresh cayenne pepper is my everyday pepper, other peppers like black pepper, bell peppers are good but not an everyday pepper for me.  Cayenne pepper is anti inflammatory, contains antioxidants such as vitamin A, C, it boosts blood circulation and helps relieve pains and arthritis. You can get the fresh or dried cayenne.  They are all good.  But whoever possible, choose the fresh version.

3.  Ginger

Ginger is another great spice that you can safely add to your soups and stews daily.  Ginger help in producing more stomach acid to aid digestion.  You can blend or mix your ginger with garlic as a paste and add to your soups and stews to help fight pain, reduce other inflammatory conditions, stop heart burn, help digestion, ward off cold and kill yeast and other bugs that suppress our immune system. You can also take ginger as tea with honey especially at night if you suffer pains. Ginger is great during cold weather to help keep you and your family warm.

4.  Onions

Fresh onions is another natural taste enhancer in our kitchen that is often overlooked.  Onions is great for people with bronchial issues like asthma, same with garlic and ginger.  Onion contains iron needed by your body for many functions.  Onion is an easily digestible vegetable that can be safely enjoyed daily in our soups and stews.  It kills yeast and other microbes like garlic, it contains sulfur and helps strengthen our overall immune system.

5. Sea Salt

Natural sea salt is a great food addition to help our body fight and resist frequent infections with over 80 micro nutrient as against refined table salt with only three   It brings out the natural taste in your soups and stews without making your Soup acidic like table salt.  It helps deal with Insomnia and does not feed yeast and other bacteria. It givesyou strength and reduces excess salivary production common especially at old age. So many more reasons to include natural sea salt to your meals daily. 6.Fermented condiments: Most popular ones here are iru, ogiri and okpei. These are local Nigeria names, there are others like dawadawa and some not mentioned. these are protein sources that adds nutrients and probiotics to the mean. These fermented foods not only aid digestion but also supply easily digestible proteins and aid digestion too. Additionally, they enhance the natural taste of our meals.

In summary, it is important to add your spices and similar ingredient towards the end of your cooking so as not to destroy the nutrients. Fermented seeds like, African locust beans and other fermented Ingredients like iru, okpei, dawadawa, ogiri etc all can add a punch of nutrients especially proteins to our soups and stews and help us starve that disease instead of feed it with artificial taste enhancers like bouillon cubes.

Gingerol is the main bioactive compound in ginger, responsible for much of its medicinal properties. It has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
Cinnamon:
Cinnamon is making waves today overtaking many known and common spices especially in Nigeria due to information.  Today we know that cinnamon is not only  biblical food referred to as sweet cinnamon.   Exodus 30:22-29 expressly says. Saint leaf
Those who encountered chronic diarrhea have found help using saint leaf.  The leaf possess anti inflammatory, antifungal and other properties that fight cold and infections particularly Malaria and typhoid.  Most bacteria and infections find their to host in the intestine.   So once the intestine is defeated then your immune system and entire health is defeated.  This is the more reason we must work to protect our gut health by consuming foods that will help it stay strong. Include these herbs to help balance your blood sugar

The need to continue to use our body's insulin to regulate sugar cannot be overemphasized.  A lot of people do not bother about it until the harm comes.  When the damage is done, it becomes difficult to use it except the external insulin for the rest of the persons life.  We believe in prevention, as we age, let us include foods and herbs that will naturally boost our body's insulin production or help us live better.  These herbs when used in moderation presents no side effect like the pharmaceutical drugs do. Here are a few of these herbs that helps our body manage sugar and other carbohydrates. They include:
Ginger Root.
Ginger Root is a versatile root known for its anti inflammatory, antifungal and other properties that Supports the body function.  Using the spice regularly in our cooking or as tea is a great way to stay healthy and avoid degenerating diseases like diabetes.
Curry Leaves
Another popular ingredient in the Indian spice rack, curry leaves help to stabilize blood glucose levels and impact carbohydrate metabolism. An Indian study published in International Journal of Development Research studied in detail the effects curry leaves have on diabetes type 2 . According to the research data, curry leaves contain a phytochemical that can help control blood sugar level byin patients with Diabetes type 2 by reducing fasting and postprandial blood sugar level. Diabetic rats given a dose of about 12gm /day for a month revealed that curry leaves may treat diabetes by influencing carbohydrate metabolism and improving liver and kidney function. Also, the amazing antioxidant properties of curry leaves can boost pancreatic cell production, thereby improving insulin function.
Ginseng
A 2012 review of ginseng in animals and human beings found that not only does ginseng reduce insulin resistance, it also lowers HbA1C levels. It’s been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries as one of the most potent herbs for blood sugar control. Indian ginseng, also called Ashwagandha , offers fantastic all round benefits. Scientists are also researching the connection between diabetes and Alzhiemer’s. Panax Ginseng is a type of ginseng that is able to help with both diabetes and Alzheimer’s.
Rosemary
An aromatic herb that is used commonly to add flavor and aroma to meats and soups, Rosemary also helps normalize blood sugar levels naturally. It promotes weight loss as well, which is a double boon for many diabetics who struggle with weight issues. A research conducted in Jordan to study the effects of rosemary on lipid profile in diabetic rats proved that rosemary has no significant influence on serum glucose level and lipid profile of normal rats. But when rosemary extract was administered to diabetic rats for 4 weeks, their blood sugar levels reduced by 20%, cholesterol levels by 22%, triglyceride levels by 24%, and LDL by 27% while HDL increased by 18% respectively. The study was published in African Journal of Plant Science Vol. 6 in 2012.
Cinnamon
According to studies, cinnamon may have a positive effect on the glycemic control and the lipid profile in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2. This is because it contains 18% polyphenol content in dry weight. This popular Indian spice can improve insulin sensitivity and blood glucose control. According to a study published in Journal Of The American Board Of Family Medicine, “cinnamon lowered HbA1C by 0.83% compared with standard medication alone lowering HbA1C  0.37%. Taking cinnamon could be useful for lowering serum HbA1C in type 2 diabetics with HbA1C >7.0 in addition to usual care.”
Curcumin
The active component in turmeric known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, curcumin may also improve blood sugar levels. Look for supplements that contain piperine or bioperine, pepper compounds that enhance bioavailability. In a study published in Diabetes Care, curcumin extract was found to significantly prevent diabetes in a group of pre-diabetics who took 500 milligrams three times a day.
Bitterleaf
Bitter leaf is a very bitter herb often neglected but great for those aiming to reduce their blood sugar.  I prefer it raw, best taken empty stomach after wash to reduce the bitters.  It works fast too.  Never drink the bitter leaf water after the first washing.  It actually contains some acids that may be harmful.  It is also used in cooking soups, however, for reducing blood sugar., it is better to Consume raw after washing.
Mystleotoe
This herb is often neglected but great if you are working on your blood sugar.  It comes most time as tea in bags.  Sipping a bag in hot water taken before bedtime also helps in mopping up excess sugar in the body while we sleep.  Long term use may delay the onset of diabetes or prevent it entirely. It is also mildly sedative.
Other spices and herbs that Supports blood sugar are: fenugreek, garlic, raw honey, cilantro, hibiscus flower tea, Tumeric, coffee etc.  Remember however that the place of quality protein like beans, nuts, greens, soybean and other grains can never be taken by the mere consumption of herbs and spices alone.  So remember to include proteins to help balance the sugar.

Immune Boosting Foods That Transformed my health (part 1)

When it comes to fighting disease, resisting infections and maintaining a strong immunity against disease.  Natural whole foods remains the answer.  I am just beginning to reason that our young children should be taught these important aspect of living even early in schools.  Meaning, it should be incorporated in early schools curriculum due to its importance.  This will probably help prevent some diseases and ensure a healthier population.

Back to our subject of natural foods that Transformed my health and can help you conquer that infection:

Here are five of the common foods that helped me conquer:   They are the secrets behind my less frequent visits to hospital today, they are my family Secret.

1.  Garlic:

Yes garlic is affordable and available but never neglect it because of that, it remains one of the most powerful antibiotics given to us by nature.  Fresh garlic is great for both internal and external use.  Use it as a taste enhancer  instead of bouillon cubes especially those working to lower blood pressure.  Use it if you have frequent infections such as typhoid, kidney, liver, malaria, Constipation, yeast infection or pains. Cold, cough, mucus. Best used raw with honey on empty stomach first thing in the morning after water therapy or last thing at night for best result over infections or tackling bacteria. It has anti inflammatory and antiviral properties too

2.  Ginger:

Ginger is close to garlic.  It is one of our stomachs best fried, include ginger if you have low stomach acids, nausea, always feeling pains, feels like vomiting, always  old, bacteria and fungal infections, cough, mucus, you just name it.  It is best with honey in the money either before or after meals. You can also use ginger in your cooking to spice it up.  This spice used in moderation provides support for key internal  organs like the liver and kidney.

3.  Onions:

Onions is another common foods in our local markets that should not be neglected.  Helps bring out the natural taste in all my cooking.  Fights infections, easily digestible, a source of iron and important nutrients that Supports your health.  Use more onions and garlic and your meals will naturally taste nice.  Fights bacteria, infections, cold, fungus and virus.  Those with asthma will benefit by consuming more onions through adding them to their cookings.  Do not overcook it if you want to get result.

4.  Cayenne pepper:

Another common food that helped transform my health is cayenne pepper.  Cayenne pepper is one healing food you should eat daily.  It is moderately hot unlike black and other peppers.  Use it especially fresh cayenne if you have stomach ulcers, poor circulation, fungal infection, insomnia, frequent infections, and heart problems.  It's your hearts' best friend. Best added to your meals towards the evening.  Dried ones are okay too, but if you are battling infection, better go for the  freshest version.

5.  Coconut oil:

Another common food, often neglected is coconut oil.  Many are afraid of coconut oil due to its saturated fat content, thank God we now know better, that the fats found in coconut oil are unlike other fats. Apart from not making you fat, they help boost your metabolism.  They help you fight of disease and infections, they help you burn fat especially stomach fat. They fight yeast and attack microbes.  They resist cold, they support your thyroid health and prevent sore throat, heal toothache, sore throat, earache, and improve good cholesterol.  Coconut oil is your friendly oil unlike other oils with transfats artificially manipulated for shelf life.  Which only benefit commercial purpose but hurts our health.

More least of common foods that helped transform my health. Remember that moderation should be your guide.  Food is our medicine but too much of everything is bad also.
