WHY YOU SHOULD AVOID CANNED FOODS ESPECIALLY CANNED TOMATOES

10421276_806280619434976_8525676155396514798_n

Many people are shocked when I tell them that canned tomatoes are bad. After all, tomatoes are a vegetable (or technically fruit), so how can they be bad? Well, it has more to do with the packaging than the actual food.
Bisphenol-A, A Harmful Chemical
Most of us know that BPA is harmful. BPA, shortened from bisphenol-a is a chemical used to coat the lining of cans and most plastic products. BPA can leach into foods and drinks by way of plastic containers, Tupperware, bottles, and cans.
Children are most susceptible to the effects of BPA chemicals. Below are just a few of the detected health problems resulting from BPA exposure
*.hormonal disruption
*.reproductive harm
*.increased risk of certain cancers
*.malformation of organs in children
*.risk of miscarriage
*.sperm defects
*.increased risk of mental disabilities in babies.
BPA exposure is widespread, mostly because BPA is in most plastics and we use so much of it, especially around our food. A survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control found detectable levels of BPA in 93% of 2517 urine samples from people older than 6 years old.
I got this revealing report from ww.consumer.reports.org.  It states that "The chemical Bisphenol A, which has been used for years in clear plastic bottles and food-can liners, has been restricted in Canada and some U.S. states and municipalities because of potential health effects. The Food and Drug Administration will soon decide what it considers a safe level of exposure to Bisphenol A (BPA), which some studies have linked to reproductive abnormalities and a heightened risk of breast and prostate cancers, diabetes, and heart disease.
Now Consumer Reports' latest tests of canned foods, including soups, juice, tuna, and green beans, have found that almost all of the 19 name-brand foods we tested contain some BPA. The canned organic foods we tested did not always have lower BPA levels than nonorganic brands of similar foods analyzed. We even found the chemical in some products in cans that were labeled "BPA-free."

14 Foods that Help Fight Gum Disease

ClickHandler.ashxOur Teeth tells so much about us and our overall health.  When the Gum is diseased,  it is definitely  a warning sign that all is not well inside.  I have had to battle to rescue my gum and  tooth symptoms such as redness and swelling in the gum tissue, bleeding while brushing the teeth, tenderness or pain in the gums, a bad taste in the mouth, bad breath, weak tooth.  Truly speaking many of us at one time or the other suffered various gum problems.

Chronic gingivitis can lead to periodontitis, which is more severe gingivitis that can lead to teeth loss and receding gums.
Periodontitis – a Silent Killer Periodontitis is a silent disease, and frequently the only visible sign is seeing blood in the sink following tooth brushing, until the disease reaches an advanced stage when teeth move position or become mobile. Read also:Foods that cause yellow teeth Other symptoms include: Swollen gums Bright red or purplish gums Gums that feel tender when touched New spaces developing between your teeth Pus between your teeth and gums Bad breath Bad taste in your mouth Loose teeth A change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite
Periodontitis is ‘kick started’ by bacterial plaque accumulating at or below the gum boundary with the teeth, which triggers inflammation both locally and in other parts of the body. The bacteria can also enter the blood where they stimulate a protective response from the liver and also excessive release of damaging antibacterial agents from the white blood cells. Both responses aggravate the inflammation, which may damage blood vessel walls and other distant organs/tissues

There is good evidence that periodontitis affects blood sugar levels in diabetes patients, and makes heart and kidney complications of diabetes worse. Periodontitis is often called the silent killer as it was found that prolonged inflammation and gum infection increase the risk of: Atherosclerosis – The inflammation created by periodontitis can increase the build-up of fats, cholesterol, and other substances in and on the artery walls. Diabetes – periodontitis may trigger type-2 diabetes. Heart attacks and heart disease – The prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in patients with periodontitis is 25–50% higher than in healthy individuals. Stroke –
There is evidence that periodontitis is associated with increased risk of stroke. Cancer – Several studies have shown an increased risk of cancer with periodontal disease. Premature births and miscarriages. How to treat the infection? To ensure healthy teeth and gums and to prevent gingivitis or to treat it after it appeared, it is important to get rid of the bacteria that cause the inflammation, maintain high oral hygiene level and treat gum problems as soon as you notice the first symptoms.

Natural remedies and tips for gingivitis include:

1. Sea Salt:  Dissolve a teaspoon of salt in ½ cup warm water, mix and rinse your mouth well with the solution for about a minute. It is recommended to repeat the treatment several times a day.

2. Aleo Vera:  Aloe vera has many healing properties . Apply a small amount of aloe vera with your finger on the affected area. You can use natural aloe vera gel that can be purchased at any pharmacy or the aloe vera plant itself if you have it on hand. Aloe vera is a common medicinal herb and is useful for other ailments.

3.  Sage:   Sage is an effective anti-bacterial herb used to treat gingivitis. Brew some fresh sage leaves in a glass of boiling water for about 10 minutes, let it cool off and gurgled the infusion around your mouth 2-3 times a day. Alternatively, rub sage leaf on the gums and focus on the area of the inflammation.

4. Raw honey:  Honey has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Apply a little bit of natural raw honey directly on the infection.

5. Garlic: Garlic is known to have antibiotic effects. Crush one or two cloves of garlic, and place them on the infected gums. If you have rock salt, add a little bit of it to the crushed garlic, and then place this mixture on the infected gums.

DID YOU KNOW POTASSIUM DEFICIENCY CAN RAISE YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE? HERE ARE SOME NATURAL SOURCES OF THIS MINERAL

Potassium is a very significant body mineral, important to both cellular and electrical function. It  is one of the main blood minerals called  “electrolytes” (the others are sodium and chloride), which means it carries a tiny electrical charge  (potential). Potassium is the primary positive ion (cation) found within the cells, where 98 percent of  the 120 grams of potassium contained in the body is found. The blood serum contains about 4-5 mg. (per100 ml.) of the total potassium; the red blood cells contain 420 mg., which is why a red-blood-cell level is a better indication of an individual’s potassium status than the commonly used serum level. Magnesium helps maintain the potassium in the  cells, but the sodium and potassium balance is as finely tuned as those of calcium and phosphorus or calcium and magnesium.
Research has found that a  high-sodium diet with potassium intake influences vascular volume and tends to elevate the blood pressure. Then doctors may prescribe diuretics
that can cause even more potassium loss, aggravating the underlying problems. The appropriate course is to shift to natural, potassium  foods and away from high-salt foods, lose weight if   needed, and follow an exercise program to improve cardiovascular tone and physical stamina. The natural diet high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains is rich in potassium and low in sodium, helping to maintain normal blood pressure and sometimes lowering elevated blood pressure. The  body contains more potassium than sodium, about nine ounces to four. Potassium is well absorbed from the small intestine, with about 90 percent absorption, but is one of the most soluble minerals, so it is easily lost in cooking and processing foods. Most excess potassium is eliminated in the urine; some is eliminated in the sweat. When we perspire a great deal, we should replace our fluids with orange juice or vegetable juice containing potassium rather than just taking
salt tablets.

13 HEALTH BENEFITS OF NATURAL SHEA BUTTER

African Shea Butter
Shea butter is a solid fatty oil that is derived from the nuts of Karite trees growing in the semi-arid and savanna regions of west and central Asia. The Karite tree bears the fruits and the nuts inside the fruits contain shea butter. The nuts are then crushed, boiled and manipulated in order to extract a light colored fat, which is commonly referred to as shea butter. Pure  Shea butter resembles lumps of hard caramel ice cream. Being edible, shea butter is often used in food preparations, but it has gained huge popularity in the western world due to its widespread use in several beauty products such as lotions, cosmetics, shampoos, conditioners and many more.
What Is Shea Butter?
The main components of shea butter include oleic acid, stearic acid, linoleic acid and others. It gets absorbed quickly into the skin as it melts at body temperature. Shea butter may be refined or unrefined. Raw or unrefined shea butter is the purest form of shea butter which is most natural and least processed. Since it is extracted manually, it is able to retain its vitamins, minerals and other natural properties. Refined shea butter, on the other hand, is the processed form of butter.

Health Benefits of Guinea Corn – Sorghum

Image result for images Guinea Corn – Sorghum
Sorghum, an ancient cereal grain that’s a staple crop in India and throughout Africa, has long been considered a safe grain alternative for people with celiac disease and gluten insensitivity. New molecular evidence confirms that sorghum is completely gluten-free, and reports that the grain provides health benefits that make it a worthy addition to any diet.
Gluten is the flexible protein in common grains like wheat, barley and rye that give them a chewy, springy quality when baked into breads or pastas. Gluten triggers inflammatory reactions in people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity that can cause abdominal pain and digestive issues, and eventually lead to joint pain and intestinal damage. For now, the only way to avoid gluten intolerance is to stick to a strict gluten-free diet.

Ten Worst Food Ingredients You Should Avoid

10-Of-The-Worst-Food-Ingredients-To-Never-Eat-Again

You may never appreciate what you have when you are healthy until you loose it. Most times when we confront with what they are consuming especially with respect to their age, they usually respond, "what else should I eat".

During the week I was speaking to a woman much older that myself, holding a large loaf of white bread for breakfast, and you know, physically there were obvious manifestations that she is grossly deficient in some essential nutrients,  She cared not to take preventive measure(s) until disease comes, fortunately, or unfortunately this is the case with many of us today,

Do you read the labeling on the food products when you do your shopping? Do you check the ingredients of what goes into your body? Many people don’t do so, and it’s a pity as they don’t realize that some of the common ingredients found in processed foods can be harmful for their health. White bread for instance are baked with bromate.
While we all know that consuming more whole and natural foods is good for our health, it’s still impossible for many people to completely avoid processed foods, and for these people reading the label is very important.

Below are the ten worst ingredients you should avoid:

1. Artificial colors
Artificial colors are used to enhance the color of the food and make it look a lot more appealing, but these colors host a rainbow of risks: some of them have been linked to various health issues, such as allergic reactions, fatigue, asthma, skin rashes, hyperactivity, headaches, and they are also linked to various types of cancers.
Artificial colors are found in many processed foods, such as candies, beverages, pet foods, baked goods, cereals and even medications. Here are some of the most common food colors used today: Blue #1 (Brilliant Blue), Blue #2 (Indigo Carmine), Citrus Red #2, Green #3 (Fast Green), Red #3 (Erythrosine), Red #40 (Allura Red), Yellow #5 (Tartrazine) and Yellow #6 (Sunset Yellow). Always read the product label to see whether it contains artificial colors, so you know to avoid these foods.

2. Monosodium glutamate (MSG)
This is a processed flavor enhancer that can be found in Chinese food, restaurant food, salad dressing, chips, crackers, sausages, processed meats, dips, frozen meals, soups and more. It has been linked to various health issues, such as: brain damage, liver inflammation, learning disabilities, obesity, headaches, nausea, asthma, change in heart rate and various other diseases.

3. Artificial preservatives

There are various types of preservatives which prevent spoilage and food poisoning and prevent mold growth. The intent of preservative use is well-meaning, because they prevent botulism, mold and bacteria, which gives products a longer shelf life and protect people from illness, however many preservatives have dangerous side effects and are potentially carcinogenic, can cause hyperactivity, hormonal changes, liver damage, nervous system damage and many other health problems.
When you read the label, look for butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), butylated hydrozyttoluene (BHT), tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), sodium benzoate, potassium bromat (typically used as a flour improver E924). Also sodium nitrates and sodium nitrites are another preservatives which are added to processed and cured meats to preserve color and extend shelf life. Unfortunately, these compounds can be converted to nitrosamines, which are potentially carcinogenic chemicals.

12 Natural Foods That Supports Kidney Health

The Kidney and Liver are two very important and busy organs you must pay close attention to if you must experience longevity.  The work these two key organs are involved in affects our entire body,  the kidney in particular is involved in the following activities that are of critical importance in  ensuring  we are up and going.  This bean shaped organ is involved in extracting the waste from the blood and balancing the fluids of the body in urine apart from various other functions.

Its Key Functions Includes:

Regulating blood pressure:  Our Kidneys are constantly in the business of filtering the blood in the presence of constant pressure.  When this pressure gets lower, the kidneys help to increase it by producing the angiotensin, which is a vessel- constricting protein.  The constriction and retention produced in the body helps to maintain the normal blood pressure in the body.

Regulating the Acid Level:  The food we ingest regularly has a capacity to either increase the acid level in the body or to neutralize it.  But for proper functioning of the body, it is important to keep these acids in balance and kidneys are the organs that perform this function for the body.

Removal of Waste:  In the course of metabolism, waste are produced by our bodies, also as we inhale the air and other activities, waste are constantly produced, If these toxins are not urgently removed, they are capable of causing major organ damage.  The Kidney plays this important role by excreting them through urine.  All the excessive minerals and salts are collected via urea, which is produced in liver and is then transferred to kidneys via blood for removal of waste.

Balancing the Water Level:  In carrying out this function, the urine is broken down chemically with the help of kidneys.  When the intake of water is low, the kidneys will let the water stay inside the body rather than excreting them, by so doing the water balance is regulated and maintained by the liver.  Excess water retention is dangerous to our health as much as too much excretion is also injurious.  It is the function of the liver to maintain this balance.

The Kidney in carrying out these functions needs quality raw materials in the form of proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle, where this is not provided, the kidney could suffer damage, infection or other disease which includes but are not limited to:

  • Kidney cysts
  • Cancer
  • infections  or

Health Benefits of Fasting

10-2

History of Fasting

The history of fasting can’t have a beginning point because there’s no reason to think that early man did not fast in the normal course of his existence; every other animal, even today, will fast during times of stress or illness, and sometimes even at the slightest uneasiness. It is a natural tendency for the organism, whether human or animal, to seek rest, balance, and to conserve energy at critical times.

Herbert Shelton (1895-1985), the physician who supervised the fasts of over 40,000 people in this century, wrote “Fasting must be recognized as a fundamental and radical process that is older than any other mode of caring for the sick organism, for it is employed on the plane of instinct…”
Colbin Quote on Fasting The early great philosophers, thinkers, and healers used fasting for health and as healing therapy. Hippocrates, Plato, Socrates, Aristotle and Galen all praised the benefits of fasting. Paracelsus, one of the three fathers of Western medicine, is quoted as saying, “Fasting is the greatest remedy–the physician within.” Early healing arts recognized the revitalizing and rejuvenating power fasting promoted. To crown it all Jesus Christ himself fasted for 40 days and 40 nights.

African bush mango seed
African bush mango seed
Research on African mango shows beneficial effects for weight loss, helps with cholesterol, diabetes and obesity and as an antioxidant. It also shows help with gastro intestinal activity. Lets find out more. African
bush Mango is also know as African wild mango, Irvingia, Dika (dikanut, dikabread tree), Odika, Ogbono, Sweet bush mango, Bush mango and Iba-tree. Several studies have assessed the chemical properties of the kernels or seeds in African mango. 18 amino acids were identified in fresh African mango seeds, as well as being shown to contain a good source of nutrients, vitamins and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, phosphorus and iron.

The fibre content provides bulk, improving bowel function and aiding detoxification pathways. The main areas of interest are African mango seeds beneficial effects on diabetes and obesity as well as in lowering cholesterol, and increasing antioxidant and gastrointestinal activity.

Researchers observed low incidences of obesity, diabetes, and related diseases in a particular region of Africa. Further research revealed the people of this region used Irvingia as a soup thickener an average of ten times per week. Eventually, this led to the development of a bush mango Extract.
Specifically, bush mango may help to:

1. Assist with weight loss. In a study of 40 obese Cameroonian patients done in 2005, significant decreases in body weight, total cholesterol, LDL, or “bad” cholesterol, and triglycerides were observed by the end of the 10-week study. A 2008 study indicated similar results with lower dosages of bush mango. (

2. Reduces serum cholesterol levels:
In addition to weight loss, the 2008 study indicates levels of LDL fell 27% after 10 weeks. An earlier study showed a 45% reduction of LDL and a 46% increase in HDL, or “good” cholesterol. In addition, studies indicate reduced total cholesterol and triglyceride levels. (1-3)

Quick Recap on Liver Function

Just to review—the liver sits on the upper right side of the abdomen, just below the diaphragm. It’s the largest internal organ of the human body.  Blood has to filter through the liver before it travels anywhere else in the body. It is an important organ that must be treated with great care.

What the liver does: removes toxins from the body, processes food nutrients, including fats, and helps to regulate body metabolism.  Some researchers have observed that It’s the metabolic factory of the entire body.

Here are Five Common Foods Toxic to the Liver:

1.Fast Foods:

No surprise here, right? A study from Europe showed that eating too much fast food—a diet high in fat and sugar (including high fructose corn syrup)—could cause serious damage to the liver. Follow-up studies also showed, however, that that damage could be reversed by giving up the unhealthy diet.

6 Foods that age you faster

dcac86d5245bf6a6b4f352ea06bdff94

Have you ever wondered why some people actually look like 40 in their 50s while others look 50 in their 40s. It all boils down to food choices and life style. I have personally found food choices to be top on the factors that contribute to faster aging. Forget anti-aging creams or whatever commercial tag they have.
Due to biochemical reactions in your body that occur with every type of food you eat on a daily basis, some foods age you FASTER than your real age, while other foods help to FIGHT aging.

Eat the wrong foods regularly, and you can look and feel 10 or more years OLDER than your real age (not fun!) … but eat the right foods, and over time, you can start to look 5-10 years YOUNGER than your real age.
Three of the processes that go on inside your body that have a MAJOR impact on your rate of aging are called “glycation”, “inflammation”, and “oxidation”. When we talk about aging, we’re not just talking about wrinkles on your skin or how thick your hair is… we’re also talking about factors that you can’t see, such as how well your organs function, and whether your joints are degrading.

Food 1, that ages you faster: Wheat (yes, even “whole wheat”)

Before I tell you why wheat can actually speed up the aging process in your body, let’s clarify some simple biochemistry in your body
This deals with “glycation” in your body, and substances called Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs). These nasty little compounds called AGEs speed up the aging process in your body including damage over time to your organs, your joints, and of course, wrinkled skin.
So with that said, what is one of the biggest factors that increase production of AGEs inside your body? This may surprise you, but high blood sugar levels over time dramatically increase age-accelerating AGEs in your body. This is why type 2 diabetics many times appear that they have not aged well and look older than their real age. But this age-increasing effect is not just limited to diabetics.
So, how does “whole wheat” relates to this…

BETTER TO AVOID OBESITY

images

Perhaps no area within the field of human nutrition is more intensively researched and discussed than the subject of obesity. In spite of all the research and discussions, it remains a disorder for which there is no clearly known cause or reliable treatment. This major public health problem is one of the most complex and misunderstood disorders of our time.

Interest in solving the mysteries surrounding the cause and cure of obesity is intense because the condition poses serious threat to health. Although it is the direct cause of death for only one disorder, obesity is associated with a wide range of conditions. Obesity is associated with a wide range of conditions. The increased risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, certain types of cancer, hypertension, and other disorders may contribute to shortened life span and decreased quality of life for people who are obese.
untitled
A consequence of obesity that has perhaps the greatest impact on quality of life stems from people’s attitudes about it. Obesity is a visible disorder, against which many people hold strong biases. Biases against obesity translate subtly or overtly into job discrimination, social isolation, ridicule, and rejection. The consequences of obesity are much better understood than its causes. The scientific literature does ,however, offer several theories about its causes.

CAUSES OF OBESITY
The difficulty of identifying the root causes of obesity clearly indicates how complicated it is. we know that whatever causes behaviors of conditions that produces obesity results in a positive energy balance-caloric intakes that exceed the body’s need for calories. What is not known with any certainty is why some people develop eating habits or other conditions are so difficult to modify.

Two theories about the causes of obesity have contributed to our knowledge: the ‘nature’ theory and the ‘nurture’ theory. The nature theory attempts to explain obesity by genetic (inborn) traits. The nurture theory examines the roles of environmental factors such as early childhood food experiences and exercise in obesity development. Neither theory adequately explains why people become obese ; it appears that ‘nature’ and ‘nurture’ each plays a role

Health and Nutrition Quotes

Dr Terry Mason is right in observing that "Healthcare Happens at your Table.  Your Kitchen is your Laboratory.  Your Pantry is Your Pharmacy"  Think about this.

I strongly agree with this Chinese proverb That:
“The superior doctor prevents sickness;
The mediocre doctor attends to impending sickness;
The inferior doctor treats actual sickness.”

Unbelievable! Could this have been Caused By Gluten Sensitivity or Wheat Allergy?

Yes, wheat is one food, many resort to especially as they age, not because its so delicious or appetizing but probably because it is seen or thought to be the next substitute to white flour. Interestingly, we are already aware of its numerous health benefits. Surprisingly, however, research, encounters and experiences are confirming more and more that we must thread cautiously when it comes to wheat consumption.

BUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH WHEAT?

Wheat contains gluten, a kind of protein that is not easily digestible, a kind of protein that stays longer in the digestive track before its elimination, a protein not usable by our bodies. It is this singular attribute in wheat that calls for caution in our consumption of wheat.

ARTIFICIAL FOOD ADDITIVES; FRIENDS OR FOES

:

What are food additives: Personally, I see food additives as chemical substances added to food, drinks and other edibles during processing for longer shelf life, to enhance its appearance i.e appeal to consumers, taste, instant feeling like quick energy with no nutritional value in themselves.

Why Food additives and preservatives

According to R. Paul Singh in his article titled Food additive, He noted that “Additives such as salt spices, and sulfites have been used since ancient times to preserve foods and make them more palatable. With the increased processing of foods in the 20th century, there came a need for both the greater use of and new types of food additives. Many modern products, such as low-calorie, snack, and ready-to-eat convenience foods, would not be possible without food additives
The issue is not against additives and preservatives but artificial food additives, We advocate that the preservatives should be as natural as possible. For in real sense we cannot but preserve our food.
Scientific studies and trials published so far give enough evidence that artificial food additives and preservatives do cause hyperactivity and other associated problems especially in children. Many of the additives are banned in some countries or included only with health warning

There has been significant controversy associated with the risks and benefits of food additives. Some artificial food additives have been linked with cancer, digestive problems, neurological conditions, heart disease or obesity. Natural additives may be similarly not so safe. Extreme caution should be taken with sodium nitrite which is mainly used as a food coloring agent sodium nitrite is added to meats to produce an appealing and fresh red color to the consumer,
Any artificial colour is cosmetic and not necessary in our food and our bodies – similarly, artificial flavorings is included to make poor quality food taste better. I think its worth avoiding as much as possible, all artificial colorings and flavorings or at least keeping them to the barest  minimum. Here are a list of the worst offenders:

WHICH ADDITIVES SHOULD WE AVOID

1. Artificail Sweeteners:
Aspartame (E951) more popularly known as Nutrasweet and equal is found in foods labeled “diet” or Sugar free” Aspartame is believed to be carcinogenic and accounts for more reports of adverse reactions than all other foods and food additives combined. Aspartame is not your friend as you think, it is a neurotoxin and carcinogen. Known to erode intelligence and affect short term memory. The component of this toxic sweetener may lead to a wide variety of ailments including brain tumor diseases like lympoma, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s Alzheimers, fibromyalgia and anxiety attacks, dizziness, headaches, nausea, mental confusion, migraines and even seizures.

They are prominent in diet or sugar free sodas, diet coke, coke zero, desserts, sugar free gum, drink mixes, baking goods, table top sweeteners, cereals pudding, some toothpaste, ice tea, chew able vitamins etc.

2. High Fructose Corn Syrup – High fructose corn syrup (HFCS)is a highly refined artificial sweetener which has become the number one source of calories inmost developed countries. It is found in almost all process food. known to encourage weight gain and bad cholesterol levels and contributes to the development of diabetes and tissue damage among others.
Found in most process foods, breads, candy flavored yogurts salads dressings canned vegetables. etc

It is on record that Hyppocrate was the first to the use sea water for healing purpose during his era.

Skin Sores and Ear Infections
An Australian study published at the National Institutes of Health website suggests that salt water swimming pools can have a positive effect on pyoderma (skin sores) and “perforations of the tympanic membrane” (ear infection) in children under the age of 17. The study concluded that the incidences of these two medical issues decreased by 50 percent in Aboriginal children after regular exposure to the sea water in newly constructed salt water swimming pools. The study goes on to say that “swimming in a salt water pool provides the equivalent of a nasal and ear washout and cleans the skin.”

Treatment for Atopic Dermatitis
Atopic dermatitis is a type of chronic skin disease characterized by inflamed, itchy skin; it’s also a type of eczema. A Japanese report published by the National Oceanographic Data Center, suggests that sea water is an effective treatment for atopic dermatitis. The sea water provides itching and burning relief to those with this type of eczema. The study goes on to say that the treatment is more effective when deep sea salt water is used rather than surface sea water because of the various bacteria found near the surface.
