EASY TO USE REMEDY TO GET RID OF SHINGLES (HERPES ZOSTER)

Contracting an illness is already a huge mess but there are certain problems and illnesses that accompany with them certain other hidden problems that remain dormant for a time being and with some external trigger rise to the surface to produce and inflict its own harm. How to get rid of dandruff or hair fall or skin issues might seem not much of work but there are a couple of problems that do not appear in the beginning and when they do they are already in quite a stressful stage. When your kid (or often adults) contract chicken pox, there are certain situations when the person is also attacked by a viral infection that usually gets to the surface after the disappearance of chicken pox, or even after receiving a vaccine. The target area for this virus to occupy space, is the spinal area. Plus the symptoms and the infection also appear only on a single side of the body instead of all over. The target areas arise from the side of the spine, like the ribs and/or a shoulder. This particular viral infection is called Shingles (Herpes Zoster). A quick scan of the article will reveal to you what exactly this problem is all about and provide you with one very effective remedy that helps soothe out not only the pain but also the rashes caused by Shingles. One must take in to account that Shingles attack the individual where it finds lack of immunity or when the body is already pre-occupied under the reign of another heavier medication or treatment. The pain caused by shingles arises from the point in nerves where the viral infection has stretched out its camps and travels all the way through till the nerve disconnects or merges.

The rashes under the process of Shingles form an area of clustered blisters and there might be immense itchiness and pain in those blisters. There might be a range of 10-15 days in which the blisters appear, take their peak, turn dry into a scab and finally heal. But the remedy we are here to share not only soothes the pain but tries to reduce this time period as much as possible.

Cayenne pepper and aloe vera gel mixture for shingles:
So the substances we will need to prepare this home remedy to get rid of the pain caused by Shingles are Aloe Vera gel and Cayenne pepper. Why do we choose these two ingredients over the rest is because of a set of goodness they provide. Aloe Vera gel as most of the people know is effective in smoothening of the skin. It is anti-inflammatory which means that it works effectively in order to reduce inflammation in the area affected by the Shingles. The itchiness and pain in the skin/area around the blisters feel a sense of relief after the application of Aloe Vera. This gel thus paired up with Cayenne pepper increases the effectiveness of the remedy to ten-folds. Since, Cayenne pepper is composed of a natural compound known as Capsaicin. This very compound is rich in substance P that is known to target the pain affecting  transmission of the body. Hence, the pain that travels through the nerves during Shingles is targeted with the help of Cayenne pepper.
The logic to pair the two ingredients together is to cancel out each other’s negatives. During the blistering phase, the skin gets exposed and hence application of Cayenne pepper might increase the sensation of pain and burning. Hence, aloe vera gel acts as a soothing agent to reduce inflammation and cancel the burning sensation.

10 Beneficial Foods For Men’s Health

men-food1
I have been trying to find out the relationship between suitable diet for men over 40 yrs and that of women, of course I discovered there is not much except that there is slightly higher amounts required for men probably due to their large muscles. As we age, there is need to make dietary adjustment to our diet if we want to age graciously. This post is a special edition for men over 40yrs and above in celebration of Father’s Day and wishing the men more healthful years.

Studies suggest that the amount of energy burnt while resting begins to drop by the age of 30, and by a further seven per cent with every subsequent decade, so if you continue eating as you did in your 20s, you’ll start putting on weight.  From our fourth decade onwards, the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes becomes a concern – lead an unhealthy lifestyle and your cholesterol levels and blood pressure will rise. The good news is there are foods proven to fight these concerns. Here are the items I would advise everyone over 40 to stock up on.

1.OATS

Top grain: Oats help reduce cholesterol
WHY? Oats contain beta-glucans, a soluble fibre that can help lower the unwanted form of cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL). Avenanthramides – antioxidants unique to oats – protect against atherosclerosis (the build-up of plaque on artery walls), so giving oats an advantage over other grains.
THE EVIDENCE: Researchers conclude that eating just 3g of oats daily is enough to reduce total cholesterol by five to ten per cent. It is estimated that the risk of developing heart disease drops by two per cent for every one per cent reduction in total cholesterol. This is a must for the 50-plus group, as it is in this decade that heart-disease risk shoots up.
HOW TO EAT: Either as porridge or by adding a heaped tablespoon to plain yogurt.

2. CHERRIES
WHY? Cherries are useful in combating several conditions common in middle age, including gout and arthritis. They are a rich source of the antioxidant anthocyanin.THE EVIDENCE: Gout, which affects mainly men, is linked to raised levels of uric acid, forming crystals within the small joints. In a trial, researchers gave healthy participants 200g of cherries at breakfast. They noted that the rate at which uric acid was excreted increased by 60 per cent. HOW TO EAT: Eat a dozen cherries or drink a glass of unsweetened juice three or four times a week. Eat fresh with yogurt or seeds to ensure absorption of the beneficial vitamins.
Almonds benefit blood sugar levels Cherries benefit over 40’sWonder foods: Almonds could help stave off diabetes and cherries help combat gout and arthritis

3. ALMONDS AND PEANUTS
WHY? Benefits range from improved blood-sugar levels to reducing cholesterol.
THE EVIDENCE: A study revealed that 20 adults eating 60g of almonds daily for four weeks showed a nine per cent reduction in blood-sugar, suggesting almonds could offer protection against cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Another study took 22 adults and replaced about a third of their usual sources of fat with almonds or peanuts. After six weeks they noted a six per cent reduction in ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol, while their ‘good’ HDL cholesterol increased by six per cent.
HOW TO EAT: Choose plain varieties as excess salt can lead to raised blood pressure.

4. OILY FISH
WHY? Omega 3 fats in these fish can help lower heart rate and blood pressure, and reduce the risk of irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia).THE EVIDENCE: The best sources of omega 3 fats are salmon, mackerel, tuna, sardines and herring. A trial found that women who ate oily fish on a regular basis experienced the lowest incidence of strokes. Fish must be eaten at least four times a week for optimal benefits.HOW TO EAT: Omega 3 fats are sensitive to high temperatures, so cook on a low heat or steam lightly. Eating raw fish such as sashimi will protect the beneficial fats.Omega 3: Herring, salmon, mackerel, tuna and sardines are recommended sources of Omega 3

5. SOY
WHY? Isoflavones in soy beans have been linked to lowering cholesterol, increasing bone density in post-menopausal women and improving male fertility.
THE EVIDENCE: In a study, 42 post-menopausal women over the age of 50 were given three 30g servings of soy beans daily. After 12 weeks it was noted that high-density lipoprotein (HDL), the good type of cholesterol, had increased by 3.7 per cent while total cholesterol had reduced by 5.5 per cent. Levels of the protein osteocalcin also increased in the blood, benefiting bone density. HOW TO EAT: Consume fresh edamame beans or soy beans in cans. They should be eaten twice or three times a week. Soy can influence hormone levels and over-consumption is not recommended for pre-menopausal women without the advice of an endocrinologist. In men, the isoflavones can have a mild effect on testosterone.

SURPRISING HEALTH BENEFITS OF LAUGHING

420-some-good-news-african-american-couple-laughing-together.imgcache.rev1316189611077-300x170

FROM THE BIBLE PERSPECTIVE
The writer of Ecclesiastes stated: “There’s a time to laugh, and a time to cry”(Ecclesiastes 3:4). We know that there are plenty of reasons to cry. Just a casual glance at our world, with its wars, hatred, violence and evil – makes us sad. Every day we see/hear on the news horrible accounts of hurting people who hurt others. We are grieved at the plight of so many persons who are living in darkness and have rejected the light of Christ. The stark reality of sin in our world is indeed sobering.

It’s not surprising that many of us MYSELF inclusive as leaders may be more inclined towards sadness than  joy. Given the nature and demands of leadership in an increasingly challenging world, one could cynically surmise that leaders may have more reason to be glum than glad these days. The pressures of our organizational responsibilities, and the accompanying stresses, can drag us down. Handling church conflict, losing someone special, helplessly seeing a marriage dissolve, experiencing personal betrayal, facing an unsuspected tragedy – all may give cause for tears. To counter the sad times, the Scripture also advises that there is a time to laugh. Leaders need to know the balancing therapy of laughter, when was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?! Or, you actually had a good belly laugh?

OTHER WRITERS

Spurgeon’s great sense of humor
Many evangelicals know well the stern side of C. H. Spurgeon and his serious pursuit of the holy life. Indeed, his stands for righteous causes, and countering doctrinal error are often recounted. But many readers may not know that he was a man with a great sense of humor. Spurgeon knew the value of laughter and mirth. He virtually took to heart the word in Proverbs 17:22: “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.”
Spurgeon laughed as often as he could. He laughed at the ironies of life, he laughed at comical incidents, he laughed at the amusing elements of nature. He sometimes laughed at his critics. He loved to share wholesome jokes with his friends and colleagues in ministry. He was known to tell humorous sto
ries from the pulpit.

C. H Spurgeon considered humor such an integral part of his ministry that a whole chapter in his autobiography is devoted to it. Humor permeates his sermons and writings, often woven into the fabric of his messages. It’s one reason among many why he is still so readable today. Laughter, a needful release
Laughter is an important release in a leader’s life. It is much-needed therapy for positions that are most often fraught with stress and the burdens of the day. Certainly there is a time to be sober as we face many tough situations in our lives and ministries. But, we need to learn how to experience the relief of laughter. Part of the problem is that too many of us take ourselves way too seriously. When we forget that God has a sense of humor, we need to do as one leader suggested – go look in the mirror!

Spurgeon knew the value of laughter and humor. Both in tough times and sick times, humor was a means for him to deal with his situation. It was a coping mechanism for him. There will always be seasons of sadness and joy for the conscientious leader. But, the leader who learns to balance the two, will learn the discipline of employing laughter and joy in his life. It could very well make a difference in his fulfillment and purpose in his service to the Lord.

Find Out, Is Stomach Ulcer Eating You? What are You Eating

191811
I have always heard and believed that ulcers are caused by fasting  or going without food for long periods of time, until recently, It is now clearer than ever that so many factors could be responsible for an onset of ulcer. An ulcer is basically a wound either in the stomach (could affect any part of the stomach) or even externally too. For the purpose of this write up stomach ulcer is our focus.   No matter the cause of the ulcer, It is always an unpleasant experience.   In some cases an ulcer may be in existence internally unknown to the affected person.  Usually a strong trigger comes in contact with the part affected, then the symptoms becomes very obvious and the individual feels the ulcer just started.

There are so many beliefs on the cause or causes  of most stomach ulcers.  It is indeed interesting to note that most of these popular beliefs are actually untrue.  Here are some interesting facts about stomach ulcers  The points listed below are  made based on my own findings and personal experience:

1)  Fasting or going without food is not the only cause of ulcers
2)  On the contrary some form of fasting are beneficial to ulcers to give the stomach some rest to enable healing take place.
3)  Eating frequently is also not the only main approach to treating your ulcers
4)  Ulcers are not hereditary or running in families as I was made to believe
5)  Stomach Ulcer could  be eating you unknown to you
6)  Stomach ulcers  are curable with adequate nutrition and knowledge
7)  Many factors are responsible for stomach ulcers, most importantly, insufficient protein intake, too much refined carbohydrates and stress.
8)  some knowledge about nutrition is important.

A lot of people have suffered and are still suffering due to ignorance of what exactly they need to do to get healed.
What is Eating You? If there is an overgrowth of yeast or bacteria in your gut, unknown to you, they may be eating you.   In this case, you may be having fatigue and similar symptoms like ulcer.  When food is eaten frequently  as a way of managing the condition,  it could even  worsen it by allowing the yeast to continue to grow out of proportion thereby increasing the symptoms, especially if they are mostly refined and highly processed foods.  My advise is to find out what  exactly is eating you.  It could even be typhoid bacterias or other infections. which are also worsened by excess refined carbohydrates.

7 Best Foods For Growing Children

Growing years are probably the most important  years in the life of any individual.  It is the period when most important nutrients are needed without compromise.  It is actually the period when all organs are formed especially the reproductive organs.  Children therefore needs to be given adequate attention when it comes to nutrition.   Contrary to what we see on a daily basis, here are some 7 best foods for your growing children.  Remember that proper nutrition serves as medicine as well.  Bottom line is that most diseases could be avoided as well:
Eggs
Eggs are particularly high in their protein content.  Protein is required is high amount in growing children for building of muscles and new cells.  Eggs are rich in Vitamin A.  Vitamin A is required in many areas such as sight, skin and immune support. Eggs go well with many dishes.  Could be mashed in cereals as well.  Eggs are also rich in zinc. vitamin E, K and D.  They are good sources of omega-3 fatty acids.
Milk
Milk is needed in high amount during those years when cells and muscle require them.  Whether whole milk, skimmed milk powder or yoghurt are extremely rich in calcium, zinc, phosphorus for growing children.  There are other beneficial nutrients for children found in milk which makes an excellent food for growing children, such as Vitamins A, B2 and B12.  it is also a source of iodine, niacin and B6
Moringa Leaf Powder
This healthy vegetable is also loaded with fiber, which is very essential for growing children. Other key nutrients in moringa are iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc and folic acid. It is also a good source of B vitamins, which aid digestion and improve the functioning of the nervous system.  Moringa is a Super food for children.  I have personally seen the nutrient density of moringa come to the rescue of a child suffering from a wasting disease where other foods failed.  Ensure to get your moringa from the right source
Sweet Potatoes.  Sweet potatoes are ranked as one of the most nutritious vegetables available. They are very rich in beta carotene and other carotenoids that are essential for eyesight. Also, they are a good source of vitamins A, C and E, potassium, folate, calcium, iron and fiber. Most children like the taste of sweet potatoes. You can serve them boiled, grilled or as baked sweet potato dishes. You can also deep fry sweet potato slices and serve them as a substitute for unhealthy potato chips.
BeansBeans are good source of protein required to build strong bodies,  The black-eyed cowpea is particularly rich in protein.  Growing children should be allowed to enjoy beans several times a week, to enable them obtain sufficient protein  to build muscles. Fish
It is easy to incorporate fish into your child’s diet.  They are rich in protein and easily digestible too.  Most varieties are protein sources,  I however usually look for the the ones rich in omega-3s, like sardines.  Meat is also good for growing children due to their high zinc content to enhance the child’s growth.  Grass fed beef are usually preferred in this regard.  Most beef sources are laden with chemicals robbing the food of some nutrients and introducing other things not need by the body.
Oats.
Oats are rich in vitamins B group, zinc, protein and other essential nutrients for the growing years.  Due to its bland taste, children can only enjoy this food mostly when other sweeteners are added.  You can add a pinch of moringa leaf powder for a more nutrient dense breakfast for the children.

A Dietician shares the five favorite foods in her kitchen and why

No doubt. Eating wholesome, nutritious food helps you maintain a healthy weight, aids in preventing major health issues, such as diabetes and heart disease, and gives you the energy you need to tackle your busy days.
And it’s because of those busy days that it’s so important to have nutritious foods on hand at all times. When hunger strikes, you need to have good-for-you foods at the ready. Otherwise, you might be tempted to reach for fatty, sugary, or salty snack foods that offer you a quick hunger fix, but little in the way of nutrients.
Kristen Kizer, a registered dietitian at Houston Methodist Hospital, concurs: “We often know the right foods to eat, but following through can be difficult, which is why it’s important to make healthy choices as convenient as possible.”
Here, Kizer shares the five nourishing foods she always keeps stocked in her kitchen. They’re all easy to prepare and so tasty too.
1. Nut butters – Whether it’s peanut butter, almond butter, or cashew butter, these convenient spreads are chock full of heart-healthy, monounsaturated fats that help combat heart disease—all with a creamy texture and satisfying taste. Kizer likes them as a dip for apple slices or carrot or celery sticks, spread on whole-wheat toast, or mixed in plain Greek yogurt.

Health Benefits of Black Tea

hqdefault
We are moving to the season of frequent rain and it is a time when the body’s ability to burn fat and high calorie foods are reduced. It is true that black tea contains some caffeine, however this has not robbed it of its numerous health benefits as long as we do not overdo it. Of course over-indulging in anything will have negative consequences, having an extra cup of black tea may not be as bad as you might have imagined especially if you carefully select a good brand.
Personally I love taking tea and especially green tea, however, I do occasionally go for black tea because there is a little difference that exist between green and black teas which I will share with us in a later post, more so its rich dark colour and taste makes it stand out amongst other teas including green tea. You may also like to check my post on health benefits of green tea. It’s how I like to begin my day—not to help me wake up, but rather I like to enjoy a tasteful cup of bliss first thing in the morning. When it comes to herbal, green or black tea, different things suit different people and a doctor’s recommendation should never be overlooked, but for most of us, indulging in a cup or two of black tea might in fact be a healthy life choice, as some studies have shown.
Both green and black tea are made from a shrub called Camellia Sinesis, but with different processing methods. In addition to the leaves being withered, rolled and heated, black tea leaves are fermented before the final heating process.
Below are 11 health benefits of having a cup or two of black tea on a regular basis, though it should be noted that it is recommended that black tea should be consumed without any additives like milk or sugar to truly harness its benefits. Adding milk is optional which I do always prefer just in little amount.

EASY TO USE REMEDY TO GET RID OF SHINGLES (HERPES ZOSTER)

During the blistering phase, the skin gets exposed and hence application of Cayenne pepper might increase the sensation of pain and burning. Hence, aloe vera gel acts as a soothing agent to reduce inflammation and cancel the burning sensation.
How to prepare the remedy:
·         1/8th tablespoon of Cayenne pepper
·         1 tablespoon of Aloe Vera gel
·         Makes the ingredients well till they are smooth
(Recipe can be doubled according to the need)
The things to take care of before proper application of this gel on to the skin is making sure it doesn’t burn too much by applying it to a small, test area. If there’s more burning sensation then add in some more aloe vera gel to reduce the issue.
You might need some strength to endure the effects of Cayenne pepper but it actually becomes hard for some people, especially kids to actually endure the extra (helpful) pain. For this reason, Cayenne pepper can also be replaced by either Paprika or Turmeric powder (in the same quantities). There might be better benefits under Cayenne pepper but Turmeric would also serve the same purpose.
It is indeed a very tough decision to endure the pain of an already existing problem and then to try and look for a cure that also triggers the sensation of pain ad burning but for the right reasons. Sometimes it is the will power that helps you pass that phase of a disease to help you move towards recovery in a faster pace.
