Here is My Latest Swallow and Why

 

Introduction 

We have been trained to swallow, our throat right from childhood have also been adjusted to swallowing, so it is therefore not surprising when people come asking again and again "what should I swallow"?  So what do I mean by the word Swallow?,  To those who are far away, it may be difficult to understand or decode, but those living in Africa or Nigeria in particular will understand what I mean by Swallow when we prepare a carbohydrates food in a way that it becomes a moldable food that we can take in  without chewing, that is exactly what I mean by swallow and because majority of us never feel satisfied until we have swallowed something, being our culture we therefore feel very very unsatisfied when we do not have such in our diet.  Truly speaking, it is always heavy to have this type of diet, infact it can add to weight gain it can also  add to the amount of food consumed since the chewing  time is avoided.   If it is possible to avoid the Swallow I will recommend you to avoid it but,  No it is not something we can avoid as our body is already used to it both men and women love to swallow but men in particular  love it much more.  However,  as we age it is important to reduce its frequency since it increases the total amount cumulatively that we consume at a particular meal however we cannot take it out completely since it is something that we desire and most of them have advantage of not spiking sugar since it may take some time for it to break down. 

Some common swallows that we take  includes, fermented cassava (Foo foo) also the flour swallow as garri or eba as we call it is high in starch, our dried yam flour in form of amala our semolina swallow or semovita and other flours also some people have attempted preparing fermented millet as swallow but I do not recommend it because consuming too much fermented foods is harmful is not healthy for us as a matter of fact too much grains is dangerous it triggers inflammations and a lot of other health issues that is sometimes difficult to diagnose and it  is for this reason I do not recommend us to just prepare fermenter millet or other fermented grains as swallow or sorghum and all the fermented foods that are in the greens family however those who choose to take cassava flour as a swallow will be consuming too much of starch or carbohydrate because it is high in starch although if taken in very small amount moderate amount it is far better in  regulating blood sugar than most of the processed carbs we see around the only problem and challenge is the portion.

As much as we encourage inclusion of fermented foods it is also not good to consume too much of it as in the form of grains I therefore thought of this one and gave it a try.  Considering usually what to recommend especially non-glutinous grains,  food starches that are gluten free for diabetics and for those with high blood pressure and then you noticed again that most of these  starchy carbohydrates are not healthy for diabetics I  therefore began to wonder as some have usually as what then should we swallow ?, then tried  this particular one which is easily affordable and more economical a portion of oats to 70% whether ground oats or just oats flakes then 30% fermented cassava flakes or white (Ijebu garri) as we call it. why do I make this combination I will give us two or three reasons I have  actually tried adding it into my diet and it worked. It therefore became necessary to share it to lovers of swallow so that we can always have something to swallow which gives us that  feeling and filling we always desire. 

Oats Powder or Flakes 70%

I have actually tried consuming oats alone as. food and found its other side which is not good it is one of the grains family  and many of the oats contain traces of gluten probably from the source that they come from so when consumed continuously for a very long time the inflammatory side of it  begins to show up I have tried it several times for a long time even though it was cheaper then but now it is even very very expensive in this area where we are making it even more economical to make the decision I made and that is more reason I thought to share with us.  Oats  contains magnesium, potassium, some protein, soluble and insoluble fibre for heart health, for cholesterol  and vitamin B group of vitamins so I got some, also  some of my fermented garri white garri and began to prepare the swallow I shall be doing a video of it to show to us through my Youtube  and the proportion of both continue to stay in the pot and then add less than a cup of the fermented garri which is gluten-free naturally gluten-free to use to thicken it tried it once it was okay and was able to pass through the throat smoothly then and on  another occasion I tried it again it was good only ensure that the garri is not more than the oats, you will enjoy it and see how that feeling that you have taking your swallow goes.

Fermented Cassava Flour 30%

Have you tried swallowing garri  or eba or even foo foo with some vegetable soup and maybe meat or fish and then after checked your blood sugar you will notice that it doesn't have too much negative impact on blood sugar as we normally will think the problem will always be the portion the person  consumes is always a problem but  if we can maintain a very small and moderate portion it's a quality food if you're looking for what to take for energy as  a mature adult  and that is easy to digest there is a problem with Gluten I have noticed and observed it and as much as possible we should avoid foods that contain gluten they are inflammatory,  it is also important to know that consuming large amount of it will not only cause weight gain but will spike sugar will affect blood pressure and many other inflammatory conditions negatively and that is the reason why we should be cautious of portion but it has a very beautiful side too.  it has no fat and when you get the fermented one,  it will add that fermentation to your meal which is needed for easy absorption and for probiotics, then combine it with a little oats and prepare. 

 Start with the oats and use the garri flakes to thicken it. and you have a perfect swallow that can satisfy your swallow craving and not affect your health negatively that is protein.  It supplies important nutrients like proteins, potassium, magnesium for heart health and soluble and insoluble fibre to tackle bad cholesterol which is totally lacking in  cassava flakes and we always emphasize on protein in the diet so this combination provides a good swallow and economical too for the health conscious. But please do not overdo it because too much will give a negative result because of the carbohydrate  they  both carry which some people are already avoiding completely.    When you consume garri or eba alone it doesn't support heart health but the addition of the food in small portion makes it okay you may give it a try and comment or give us a feedback on your own finding concerning this very swallow what I tell you is that it is  working for me.  It is working for those I recommended it for and for those of you who loves swallow a lot it definitely will work for you too but you must take moderately it helps give you  that  feeling but ensure that your soup is rich vegetable  containing onions, garlic or the anti-inflammatory spices  must be in the soup in order to give you a good balance that is one of the secrets of this combo with a healthy soup that is rich in vegetables and  protein  like fish, meat fermented stuff and then you experience that feeling and satisfaction that comes when you swallow as you always love.

With too many questions on the subject of swallow coming my way and my own need to get a swallow for myself and some of  my followers, I therefore began to search for a perfect one,  especially considering  that some of the foods we buy as dried measure are  not okay because they come with molds.  Molded dried  plantain,  molded  dried yams,  all kinds of molds that you see in form of dried ground powder .  I  thought of something and decided to try out this very swallow and wao, it worked  and here some of the reasons why.

Why This Combo

1.  Heart Health; 

  The reason for this idea is to protect the heart health if you consume only a Eba or garri,  our heart will suffer and our body will not get enough protein to do its work.

2.  To Consume moderate amount of fermented food in the diet

Another reason is to be able to have a smart combination of little amount of fermented food in the diet through the addition of fermented garri for a healthy gut and to include non-glutinous grains  too which garri is one of them.  

3. To Reduce Much  Grains in the diet:  

 To reduce  much grain in the diet because the temptation that many are having is to focus on the grain as a swallow left with option of grinding  the sorghum bicolour, corn,  and  other grains which all comes with anti nutrient they are sources of gluten in one way or the other and many times if they are fermented and consumed in large quantity it triggers  some diseases and ailments I have actually experienced it some starts in form of sore throat, you may equally check and several other health issues in cases you experiencing any due to much grains in your diet and that is why I thought to make this adjustment and then to let us know the dangers of too much grains if you are going through some ailments  and you are wondering the source and you've been consuming too much grains or using as swallow  you may have to do a rethink and change to something that is gluten-free or find a way to add gluten-free some are making use of sweet potatoes which is also good but I find it more interesting to consume sweet potatoes alone once in a while because it's also quite heavy and when you are talking in terms of weight sweet potatoes is heavier than garri talking of weight and that is why I also decided to make this combination and I am  also being cautious about it not to take it too much or to take it daily. Yellow garri may carry more oil unless you prefer it that way.

4.  To Help Control Cholesterol with the help of Oats

This is one of the reasons behind this idea and i think it is a smart one

In summary, it is important to know that we should not take too much.   Moderation is the rule and it is definitely not an everyday food if you consume it daily it may still end up in weight gain so just few times in the week occasionally as you desire to swallow three times in a week is not bad two times is not bad but just to make sure that you are not denied of swallowing or having opportunity to enjoy and  satisfy your craving for swallow that you started as an African child and up to adulthood.   Remember to drop your comment if you tried it and how it worked for you.

7 Surprising Foods Diabetics Must Avoid


Introduction 

 Here are 7 common foods we love to eat daily but has negative impact on blood sugar.  Those who are experiencing insulin resistance must be careful in choosing their foods, if you can choose smartly and avoid those  foods that have high glycemic index you may not have to worry too much about insulin resistance as it may soon be over.   I have personally observed these things in my own diet and over time began to reduce them and when possible to avoid them completely but in avoiding them there must be alternative foods that can be substituted.  whatever you are missing by avoiding them though  I do not agree, you just take them out completely without a substitute to supply the nutrients you are missing if any.   It is okay to take them once in a while, take them in little amount, if you must consume them but bear in mind that they have a high glycemic index and posses resistance in your blood sugar, so the smart thing to do after consuming them if you must consume them is to consume another food that will lower your sugar so as to bring it to balance.  Here are the top 7 common foods Diabetics and prediabetics must be more cautious with;

1. White Rice  

We love to eat rice a lot and of course  rice is a low calorie easily digestible grain that is enjoyed right from childhood  up to  to old age but these days we have this brand of polished rice that usually have nutrients removed during polishing, making it unhealthy especially for diabetics these polished rice are in the  majority today and, are very high in terms of glycemic index.   if you are diabetic or pre-diabetic or you are managing diabetes please as much as possible know that rice is not a friend of diabetes and should be avoided or taken cautiously with a lot of vegetables and other foods or spices that lower blood sugar

2. Yam:  

Our local yam is a nice delicacy to so many of us but because of the issue of insulin resistance and its high glycemic index  a lot of us have decided to remove it from our die.I have personally remove this from my diet for several years now because of his impact on blood sugar I have managed diabetes in some people, I have handled some people with diabetes and have checked their sugar after a meal made with yam and I saw the impact so, I  do not need any other test or any other doctor to tell me that this particular food is not good for diabetes. Sweet potatoes is a better and healthier option if you want to eat tubers although people tend to see sweet potatoes as very sweet but the good news is that,  that sweetness is packed with nutrients and it  is a powerful food for those managing diabetes but we must control the portion and it's even best eating with vegetables and then in small amount in order for you to enjoy the benefits but for the yam tuber I do not recommend it for diabetes or pre-diabetics however surprisingly a lot of people who are managing diabetes still consume yam frequently ignorant of the fact that it affects blood sugar and in case you are in that category of people, just know that this particular food  though  looks hard as a tuber but it has very high negative impact on blood sugar and should be avoided if possible or replaced with a healthier option which is sweet potatoes.

3. White Bread:

Another very offensive food that we must avoid or be cautious with white bread if you are managing diabetes or you were pre-diabetic or you are a health-conscious person managing any kind of elements especially inflammations then it is advised to stay away from white bread and then also to stay away from wheat  bread you can take  wheat once in a long while in very small amount because of fibre but a lot of times people tend to switch to wheat believing that it is a better option yes which is high in fibre and vitamin B group of vitamins but it is not an option to consume it regularly because it does not work that way though it has more fibre than the white bread but that must be taken consciously because of its effect and impact and blood sugar and blood pressure too.

4. Milk

It is hard to believe but it is true that though we condemn milk in a lot of  ways though it is  loaded  with vitamins and minerals but every diabetic or pre-diabetic shouldbe very cautious with the consumption of milk.  Milk is not a friend of diabetes, those who are managing  blood sugar should  as much as possible stay away from too much milk .  once in a long while like I have always said you can take small amount because of your brain health  because milk is a brain food so I do not subscribe to total abstinence from certain foods because of its negative impact on blood sugar once in a long while take milk, it may help  you to reduce depression too and have to support the brain, may preserve the brain function and degeneration that is what I have noticed and those who are conscious of blood sugar or fighting inflammation to also be mindful of milk and take it cautiously or if they have other alternatives  for calcium you can also abstained completely.  I'm aware that some people have abstained from milk totally and they are doing very well with it but I have noticed that when milk is kept away for too long energy level drops. Total energy drops because milk is one of the foods that have complete aminoacids and my  honest opinion is that it should not be a regular food for diabetics but once in a while included moderately  because of its nutrients and the fact is that it hass complete amino acids and supports brain health.

5. Noodles, Pastas, Biscuits

Noodles pasta biscuits semovita and all the names such as spaghetti or whatever they are called are all in the same class and  very unhealthy for those who are managing diabetes or pre-diabetics they are not only factory made they do not have nutrients to deliver and those  managing diabetes or trying to control blood sugar should be conscious of nutrients in the food they consume.  Almost all the foods in this categories may be fortified to but it is better to avoid fortified foods and embrace naturally occurring vitamins and minerals in order to save and secure our liver and kidney because the liver and the kidney are the ones doing the clearing after we have consumed these unhealthy foods so if you are trying to avoid blood sugar spike or you have issues with insulin then you must stay away from these category of foods because they are not healthy and they do not support a stable blood sugar

6. Pap made with corn and Corn Products

Pap is a common food and  many people love it because it's not only easy to consume you can also add other foods to enjoy it,  it is also  a fermented food which is good for us but here is a bad news for diabetics and prediabetics irrespective of  whether it's made with yellow corn and white corn it is not good for blood sugar, it is one of the worst foods when managing blood sugar you must stay away I have had arguments with people who are diabetic who are still in love with pap because it tastes sour in the mouth and because they do not have knowledge about its glycemic index.  I have met someone that is diabetic and been  on medications and when I tried to educate her that she should stop consuming too much pap she argued it so I left her alone and that is the case with many people today, ignorance while they are on  medication they are still feeding the disease.  if you are in that category take breakfast made with pap  and then go check your blood sugar yes it is true some people do take it with other foods like moi moi,  yes that is a better way fairly better way but  I still do not recommend it because consuming it with beans or moi moi  does not make it complete if you are taking with boiled egg, it is even better  and that pap  has to be millet  pap  because it has

7.  Fake Honey

Pure original honey is not bad for diabetes but it is very hard these days to get a good honey that has not been adulterated fake honey there forIs one of the worst foods for diabetes if you are not sure of the honey which is the case most times these days it is better to avoid honey because it will spike your blood sugar or even start it if you didn't have it before because most times we do not know the content of our so-called honey but if you know the source of the honey and you are sure they are directly from the Beast you can take it moderately and it will help to boost the nutrients in your body and support fight against diabetes otherwise it is one of the foot to be avoided because of its negative impact on blood sugar

There are several other foods that also cause spike in blood sugar however it is important to know how a food  affects your blood sugar before you start consuming it .Do not based on what people say or what people think about the food or how the food looks some food may look solid physically like our local yam but they do not behave like that when they get into the body so we must be careful in order not to feed or support insulin resistancethrough what we eat, so  that we will not experience complications in diabetes

This is is not known to may but each time, My eyes are going through serious stress worsen by poor sleep and screens effect, I go for bitter, just one medium size bittercola for 3 days and it settles it and boosts my immune system.

 Being properly hydrated at all times is another great way to suppport the eyes especial in the morning as water therapy.

It was a Stroke, He survived it (Part 2)


It is the 5th day of the Stroke attack and the BP this morning was 152/77, Still working on it to sustain the drop.  Here are some tricks, foods and herbs that he has been on and that may have helped:

Tricks

Take out Milk. Meat and high carbohydrates

Reduce portion of foods but increase quality so as to achieve weight loss if the person affected added weight or is on the fat side

No medications, or drugs, even multivitamins or supplements were all suspended.  My reason is because, the tension and pressure existing in the body may not accommodate additional load whatsoever.

Morning walkout became mandatory at least 20 minutes, before now.  It was not part of his lifestyle 

Proper covering especially the feet at night became mandatory too to avoid coldness which may reduce blood circulation leading to another  or follow up attack.

Proper hydration daily. In addition to water therapy, liquids  featured at least twice daily or more in the diet.

More blood thinners were introduced daily like

Garlic, ginger, tumeric, black pepper, cayenne pepper, cinnamon  and onions were mildly increased in the diet and salts removed except sea salt in moderation.

The soursop leaves tea that led to the crash was exchanged with hibiscus flower tea on the 4th day.  The reason is if you continue with soursop for too long because of the swift result, the individual may also suffer nerve issues, Pomegranate tea was introduced in moderation so as to support the nerved which soursop tea does not provide.  Also other blood pressure reducing foods.  

As continue to monitor the blood pressure, pomegranate is on ground already to help clean up arteries too because nerves were seriously affected and damaged already.  This may require further  medical investigation to determine the extent of the damage while monitoring the reading, however one  assurance we have is that if the crash in the blood pressure is sustained for up to 8 weeks, some  existing may improve and heal completely.

Breakfast usually

Starts with warm water therapy and chewed about 2 cloves of garlic on empty stomach , Light  oats, millet pap but usually mixed with Dates powder, tigernut power and sometines soaked chia seeds in side the oats but not a daily.

Midday, green vegetables with little red oil and peanut oil, local fermented condiments, iru, crayfish in small amount because its a source of sodium: 

Vegetables used interchangeably are ewedu, efirin, ugu, waterleaf, Bitterleaf, okra and tomatoes.

Before bed.  A drink of either hibiscus tea, pomegranate tea, or soursop and guava leaves  tea boiled together as tea

Fruits:

Mostly mornings or before the main meal of the day  are:

Green apples,  cucumbers, citrus, carrots and bananas in moderation

2 moringa seeds daily on some days, he took the moringa seeds in the evening if not taken in the morning.

Carbohydrates in the diet

Sweet potatoes with other vegetables in moderation

Unsweetened pure cocoa was also added occasionally to the breakfast because of magnesium and its a blood thinner too.

Oats and Fermented Millet 

Bananas 🍌 in moderation

Coco pure  were added  to  to the oats to raise magnesium in the body  while the fruits and particularly citrus were added to help in alkalizing the body because excess acid also contributes to complications when managing High blood pressure.   It is important to know that it is not advisable  only to focus on a particular herb that has worked but we must also focus on other aspects of herbs and foods that  will help the body regain its balance and in this case. Cucumbers, apples and citrus were used, though there are always others like celery, watermelon, but you may not always have all at your disposal.

So here are the foods that were used to reduce acid level because this is an area that a lot of us go wrong,  they focus on lowering the blood pressure without focusing on reducing acid in the body. Without also focusing on cleaning the arteries which is partly the job of pomegranate and to strenghten the muscles which was weak too. Acidic body makes the situation worse and while we are doing that we must also work to maintain the blood sugar and that was the  sense in adding soursop live together with guava leaves.  Guava Leaf lowers  blood sugar and does other works too including fighting inflammations and while balancing hormones too.   So just few leaves but more of the Soursop leaves about five or six of the soursop leaves. 

Protein in the diet. 

Here are the protein in the diet.  Back eyed cowpea prepared with pumpkin leaves, cayenne pepper onions, garlic, ginger, cinnamon organic peanut oil, red palm oil, crayfish and tumeric

Boil egg every other day

Almond nuts,  

fish

green vegetables

fermented local condiments

crayfish

Roasted Sesame seeds 

Calcium in the diet

Tigernut powder

Soaked Almond

Sesame Seeds

Chia Seeds

Oats

Calcium in the diet is also critical when managing high blood pressure

The massage has continued with a reduction in the BP which has continued which has been maintained or sustained.   Reading in the evening usually151 which is quite impressive after the evening meal and taking a glass of hibiscus tea so an hour after the meal it has come to this point and we  are sustained by the grace of God with body massage and all the other foods.  In coming days other foods and fruits will be introduced as we must continue for the body to regain its balance internally. foods that has been suggested above I believe those that are going through high blood pressure may learn some lessons from this.   Do not neglect checking your blood pressure, do not expose yourself to cold and if you do,do something fast to keep yourself warm again and take some warm tea like soursop tea hibiscus tea you can combine with guava leaf tea you can also take tumeric and ginger tea in a way to keep the body warm so as to prevent reduction in blood circulation which can give rise to complications leading to stroke.  It is also important to watch our diet and ensure we do not consume too much of saturated fat as you can see also in this case we should also not be comfortable with being overweight.   We are already aware that  excess body weight is also a factor that can open door for an attack.

Lessons learnt from the experience 

High blood pressure if not controlled can lead to complications of stroke, which is even more frightening.

High blood pressure is reversible using natural foods and herbs.

Main lessons I want to leave as a result of this is that it is possible to manage High blood pressure using natural means if you know what to do.   Do not be discouraged  and do not be afraid it is not a death sentence if you have high blood pressure, natural foods and herbs can reverse and sustain it but you need adequate knowledge and guidance too, and by the Grace of God you will surely get result not only result but a sustainable one.  Note also that there are other remedies apart from these ones used in this case

It was a Stroke, He survived it. (True Life Story)Part 1


Introduction

This is a true life story of a 63 year old man who had partial stroke but survived it using natural means.   

 Read on to see what happened, foods, herbs and tricks that helped bring the blood pressure from 193/107 to 151/75 within 3 days

We all know how dangerous the attack of stroke  can be and most times it is triggered by uncontrolled blood pressure, diabetes, overweight, poor blood circulation which could be worsened by high cholesterol and several other factors can predispose one to an attack of stroke.  it is also a factor and once someone get to certain age it is necessary to watch our weight, our diet,our blood pressure, our sugar in order to avoid serious complications like stroke because when a stroke occurs it  can cause serious damage  to the brain.  to the blood vessels or to any part of the body that is affected.   Some people it leaves  them dead, some people leaves them paralyzed some people  just like vegetables especially when the brain is affected so it is definitely not something anyone will wish for  even our  enemy.  In  this case I happen to leave and share the same apartment with this 63 years old man. I believe as could be seen by the uncontrolled pressure  which  readings as  stated above must   have been triggered by the rise in blood pressure as is in most cases of stroke.

Most Common Causes of Stroke as was also in this Case:   

1. Age:

Several factors can predispose one of an attack of a stroke which usually affect the brain and some blood vessels that are affected but top on the list of the factors are age.   Age is a factor as can seen in this case.  63 years old. Obviously the older we get the more we should be careful to avoid it.   it is not something that one can say it runs in families or I can't be affected by it once you fall under this agec categories, we should be careful whether you are male or female.  should be careful and watch out to avoid an attack of stroke.  Most elderly people who are over 50 are more likely to experience or suffer a stroke.  age is a strong factor. 

2.  Being Overweight: 

I mean being extra in size is a factor we must always watch our weight to avoid incidences of stroke when the body mass is increasing and it's not in the same proportion with bone density stroke may occur  especially in the case of older adults.

 3.  High Blood pressure:

Those who are predispose to  high blood pressure or who are already having high blood pressure should be aware of attack of stroke once the blood pressure gets above 160 or  over 165 Systolic,  He or she should be careful and be on alert to use things that will lower the blood pressure or use your medication if you are on  medication but in this very case there was a slight negligence in checking and monitoring the blood pressure though not on any blood pressure medication but had had acpast blood pressure of over 180 which was successfully regulated using natural foods and herbs.   so if you are negligent of checking your blood pressure for whatever reason then you should reconsider your step because it  usually give little or no warning although some people may understand when their body is speaking to them they may know what is going on they may be able to understand what the body is saying but not everybody is so gifted to know.



Top 23 foods for Reducing High Blood pressure 

 In this case, the man thought he usually would know when the blood pressure is high but he got it wrong as in this case the blood pressure I believe went over 200 and he was not even aware until the attack came so we must beware of neglecting to check our blood pressure whether you have the feeling or not but at least always check it , especially if you know that you have experienced a high blood pressure of over 180 or 190 before or you are an elderly,  person it  is always  better and safer to check to know, also  listen to your body is good,  but don't rely totally on it sometimes you yourself may not understand what the body is saying because I know that our body doesn't go wrong in  warnings,  symptoms and signals  but we may go wrong sometimes because either  we are too busy to listen or ignored  it when the signal was showing up and in this case definitely his signals were there but negligence  contributed.  Do not ignore any signal and try listening to your body and if you cannot understand as much as possible report to someone for assistance.

4.  Overweight: 

A little extra weight on any mature adult opens door for stroke and in this case too, the man is a little overweight and this also is a factor to watch out for.  Once you put extra pounds and you are a mature adult, you do not need to wait for complications such as stroke to occur before you  start to work on the weight and the size because It is one of  factors that predisposes one  to such an attack and this also was a factor in this case so the first thing to do is to work and reduce the weight instead of relying only on medications, medications alone may not do it or may give you a temporary solution if you do not work hard and bring down your weight.

5.  Consuming too much animal Protein:

  if you are in the Habit of consuming too much of animal protein such as meat cow meat goat meat milk and all such foods that may increase your cholesterol levels especially bad cholesterol you may also stand a chance to suffer a stroke in your lifetime but it is preventable if you noticed that you are already an adult a mature adult to reduce your meat and how other animal food consumption if you do not want to suffer a stroke because when this foods clog arteries the actor is the blood begins to pump Extra in order to pass through when this continues to happen over a long time a stroke may occur so my suggestion is that older adults should as much as possible go low on animal protein such as you meat go low on saturated fat from oil specially transfats we must stay away or reduce their consumption where necessary to reduce chances of experiencing a stroke.  This is most likely a factor in the stroke attack because he is a fan of meat.  Goat meat, cow meat and all kinds of meat.  It is better to reduce meat consumption even if  your intestine could digest it,   still go quite low, do not make it an everyday food, it is acidic and follows a long chain digestion.

6.  Much Cold :  

During cold weather, those with high blood pressure should pay extra attention to their health, try to keep warm at all times.  On the date before the incident, He was drenched by rain water on high way from work and the diet rich in saturated fat the night before may have added to the trigger.  I there advise that massage and similar preventive measures must be taken if you had an experience similar to this.  Though this may not be the direct cause but my experience managing people with high blood pressure reveals that the blood pressure usually rise when they are cold, watch out for this too.

7.  Late Meal:

As much as possible avoid consuming any solid food after 6pm.  Consuming solid foods late may trigger a rise in blood pressure and if not well managed, a stroke follows.

HOW IT ALL STARTED 

The above are some of the likely factors that may have contributed to the this event which was the climax.  The 63 year old man is a Nigerian man living in Ogun State.  Western part of the country.  He had gone out to work and was drenched  by rain on the day before the attack.  On returning home he had a meal of grains swallow with vegetable soup one boil egg and a piece of meat as he loves to eat meat with every main meal of the day.  He went to bed feeling well as usual but woke up with serious numbness in the left hand and strange feelings in the brain.  The numbness was so intense that we had to do a little massage first to recover some feelings there. 

Without doubt I knew. This looks like a stroke.  I quickly arranged some fresh lemon grass and made tea out it for him as we aways accuse malaria for almost every ailment.  And malaria was a first suspect as usual.  He took it but was still very uncomfortable.  I noticed heavy accumulation of fats at the back side during the massage and advised him that, this fat is part of the problem and must be dealth with as soon as possible.  We considered going to hospital right away, but I also suggested  to him that hospital won  take out these fat for you, so why not take them out first. Excess body fat poses a big problem and must be tackled too.

The heart was so affected that he complained of slight difficulty when breathing as if blood or something was struggling to pass through as he narrated to me.  Before these event he had not checked his blood pressure for several months as much as 9 months and this in my view was gross negligence with a past history of high blood pressure.  We decided to check and discovered it was. 193/107.  Shocking!

Summary:  It is important to wash our corn silk properly better in a running tap to  avoid sand and dirts  which may accompany it  it.  It is also best to use fresh silk when it is in season though we can also room-dry it and store in a cool dark place with a container and close tightly.

When to Consume Sesame Seeds and when to stay away

This tiny seed which comes in varying colors like milk color, white or even black is becoming popular day by day, it is one of th seeds that are showing numerous health benefits in managing some elements. Before now, not much was known of this seed, though it has been in existence but not much was known of its health benefits. I have known this seed for a few years but recently began to enjoy the seeds using it in soups, roasting it and consuming it with other cereals and carbs. Having been enjoying  the numerous benefits of this seeds particularly the milk colour which is more common here, I though to share some of the benefits and occasions when to include it in your diet. Especially when it comes to healthy fats which is one of the topics and subjects I always mention in the fight against diseases. Sesame seeds is one of such tiny but nutrient dense seeds that we should be adding to our diet moderately, there are numerous ways to add it, I have shown us in a video through my YouTube How I use it in preparing soup and the best way to consume it, you can also check it out. Sesame seed has a good profile in terms of fats because it has been known to have a good profile of saturated fat polyunsaturated fat and monounsaturated fat in healthy ratios which has been known to support good cholesterols in the body.

1. Needs to lower bad Cholesterol: 

The lipid profile of sesame seeds is such that those who want to lower their bad cholesterol can include it in their diet moderately because it has a good profile of saturated polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats that can help to balance cholesterol levels in the body and

 If you are looking for food to support heart health you should consider including sesame seeds and in this case I suggest you also use the roasted sesame seeds you can use it to make soup you can add it to your smoothies you can add it to your cereals but because it has its own fat and other nutrient that makes it a dense food I prefer it to be taking roasted and taking alone. if you are managing heart health because it is also dense .  The presence of calcium, magnesium and other nutrients has  made the seed one of my bone  strengthening foods.  It is also a source of the trace mineral zinc which is so important in maintaining overall health.  So if you are looking for a bone strengthening food to include in your diet consider adding sesame  Seeds occasionally I like to snack on it I mean the roasted sesame seeds just a little because it's too heavy if you consume much, definitely you wont like the feeling.   because of heart health which other food like nuts while larger in size and  heavier but not as dense as this particular seeds.  I have recently tried to reduce peanuts because of its inflammatory nature in my body and trying to swap it  completely with this tiny seed.

4.  Source of  Calcium, iron, magnesium and Vitamin E:  

I am particularly interested in sesame seeds because of the calcium and the presence of iron and other nutrients.   I have also  observed that using it in my soups and consuming it occasionally helps to manage my blood sugar helps to keep me full and not only that it relieves  constipation  too and I believe that the presence of most of these nutrients has made it so versatile in maintaining a healthy body. whenever I want to chew or snack on something I am  trying to make it my companion seed talking of the roasted sesame seeds because of its dense nutrition and it is even easier to incorporate in the diet.

If you are managing diabetes or you are a pre-diabetic this seed is also good for you because of the presence of many nutrients that helps to manage sugar and insulin resistance such as healthy fats most importantly it is not high in calorie like other seeds but you can get calcium and most of these nutrients including zinc and most of the nutrients that is needed to regulate blood sugar.   It is also good for those who are managing menopause because of its  effect of hormonal imbalance.  We know that most foods that are used for managing hormones are also in this category of having good profile of healthy fats.   So if you are in pre menopause or already in menopause, then you should  consider including this food either as a snack or  your soups  occasionally with it, or adding them to your cereals.  Moreso,  it is easier  to incorporate into your diet.

Those who suffer insomnia can benefit from the seeds. Since it is a brain food  and a source of methionine and Cysteine.  I have tried taking it on few occasions while having problem falling asleep and it really worked.  Only about 8 tiny seeds are enough.  Very small amount delivered result.  I find it most useful after consuming some leafy teas during the day and needed magnesium to pull my body together for a restful sleep.

8.  Managing High Blood Pressure
 
Due to the presence of magnesium, calcium and other nutrients. The seed works well for those with high blood blood pressure but must be taken in moderation. 

 When to stay Away from Sesame Seeds  

The seed is known to be source of oxalates and phytates and should be avoided by those managing problems  like kidney stones, and similar conditions.

Those going through pains of gout should also be careful with sesame seeds though roasting may reduce some of the activities of these anti nutrients.

If you are feeling feverish or having symptoms of malaria, I suggest you also avoid sesame seeds especially the soup because it may place more weight on the body, this is based on my experience with sesame seeds.  

If you are feeling heaviness in your chest or feeling like vomiting, I advise you stay away from sesame seeds until you are okay.

Sesame seeds is best enjoyed when consumed occasionally. I do recommend it as an everyday food or seed because it contains some anti nutrients too. Besides some develops allergy by consuming especially in large amount just like peanuts.  It is okay to  have it a side snack which can go well with non fat foods like crackers. Corn nuts and even add the roasted sesame seeds to your fermented garri, for those who like to soak garri.  Garri is a non fat food which pairs well with healthy fats like sesame seeds too.
